When I left for Georgetown four years ago, there was a great hue and cry about free broadband for all. That the city had figured some way to run it through the phone lines. What happened?

Good question Dave. My cellphone bill and landline bills went up to finance the Al Gore bringing free broadband to the hinterlands iniative AND I suspect the bureauracratic trickle down, like "false radar echoes", evaporated into the care and feeding of the commisars necessary to oversee the equitable provision of broadband access to Daufuskie Island and Hogeye (south of Lake City), nevermind the fact that most haven't a PC or laptop to use for access.
